Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY born on March 17, 1988) also known professionally as Grimes is a Canadian artist, singer, songwriter, and record producer. 2] 3] The variety of her earlier music is described as "lo hi R&B" and "futuristic dance-pop". She has also incorporated elements from hip hop, electronic and rock. She often uses science fiction and feminist themes in her songs. The band has released five albums. Grimes was born in Vancouver but moved to Montreal around 2000. Grimes started releasing her music as a solo act during the 2000s. Two albums were released by Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes as well as Halfaxa during 2010. She subsequently was signed to 4AD and gained acclaim after the release of her third studio album, Visions, in 2012. Visions is comprised of the singles "Genesis," and "Oblivion" that was considered for The Juno Award of the Canadian Music Industry for Electronic Album of the Years. After this, she released her fourth studio album Art Angels, was released in 2015 , and was met with high praise from critics as several publications called it the top album of the year. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Grimes has also been an actor and judge on Alter Ego's competitions for music, performed as a vocalist in Cyberpunk 2077 which was released 2020.
